"How You Stay Faithful In A Room Fulla Hoes?"
I've just found out about this American comedian Zach Galifianakis. He seems dead funny and makes a bunch of funny vids. I ordered his DVD, so I'll let you know if it's any good.
Well, one of his funny videos was made for Kanye West. I don't know if it's like an official, apparently West commissioned it, but I don't know if you'll be seeing it on The Hits any time soon. Apparently they took it all seriously and their thought process was; what if to hill-billies made a video for "You Can't Tell Me Nothing" and pulled it off. Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy) also features as Zach's sinister, in-bred cousion.
I posted the You tuber version below, but I really recommend you watch the hi-resolution Quicktime version here.

Juno, Juno, Juno
The other day I got to attend a blogger's screening (yeah, I know) of the new film from Fox, Juno. Dead good it was too. It's strange, the fore-most thought I had was that if I was making a film about a 16 year-old girl who got pregnant and decides she wants to give the baby to a loving couple instead of having an abortion, it would be very similar to this.
It is simply made up of lots of things that I like. The music in the film is largely made up of songs by Kimya Dawson, who I'm a big fan of (if you can, get hold of the new Schwervon album. It combines 2 thing I like in the world, Anti-folk and Bentheillustrator), the cast is made up of people I've enjoyed watching over the last few years, Micheal Cera and Jason Bateman (both from Arrested Development), Allison Janney (of West Wing), there is a great cameo by Rainn Wilson (of The Office) and Ellen Page was great in the lead as Juno.
The script is really sarcastic, in a good way. There is a kinda cynical tone which is channeled through the lead but is also witnessed in the other supporting characters. It could quite easily have been irritating (who wants to spend 2 hours watching a bunch of sarcy yoofs), but I guess there is a warmth in the script and the performances that stops it being over cynical.
What I'm trying to say is that I really liked it and I think if you read this blog you probably will too, so look out for it next February.

I Isn't Allowed
I wasn't much of a fan of Armstrong and Millar when they were on Channel 4 but this sketch seems to show that BBC1 is their natural broadcaster. The show is certainly a better 90's revival that Harry and Paul show (but that still had its moments). What the flip happened to British sketch comedy? Complete Fast Show box set coming soon too, hope it causes a fucking revolution in comedy.

There's something in the air at Five Live today!
More crudity at the Five Live studios today. I think there must be a rumor going round about one of the staff and its becoming embedded on their minds. This afternoons finger double entendre came from Rachel Burden and Anita Anand, talking about MPs defining the the smoking ban. Having a radio that rewinds and records and that is well brill.
I must grow up.
I must grow up.
This was on Five Live this morning....
...and i managed to record it. It was a discussion about snoring but Matthew Bannister managed to let slip about other night time activities. I'm so juvenile. please give it a go, it took me ages to do and let me know if its worth posting more audio like this in the comments. Cheers

This is a bit shit. A great shop that for the most part priced their stuff fairly (or even way too cheaply). I recently bought the two volumes of Hilary Spurling's Matisse biography for a fiver a pop. Better set aside a chunk of cash to back-catalog it up!
Oh, and there were some bombs in London too.

Flight of the Conchords
This just made Will and me laugh like twats.
Its from my favourite new show(this week)Flight of the Conchords. It seems they've been around for ages, even to the point where they had a show on Radio2. Well it takes for them to get a show on HBO to grab my attention (even though i live in fucking Briton, thats how insular I've become). If you can download it or watch it, do, its real funny.

Adam Buxton!!!!! and comedies
Sorry I've been quiet lately but I been up to stuff. We went to Wimbledon on Tuesday (more of which coming soon) and yesterday I went to see David Cross and Friends at the 100 Club. it was a totally brill night full of some of the best stand up i've ever seen. eugene mirman was an absolute revelation to the point i've bought his latest CD on amazon. kristen schaal was a great surprise having only just discovered her myself on flight of the conchords. Her mildly disturbing but engaging act was a great foyle to the other brash acts. and the videos, OH THE VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!! i'm sorry but there was just too much ace stuff to talk about here. If you wanna know more, phone me or something, my heart is too full and i don't want to empty it just yet.
What i do need to tell you though is that I MET ADAM BUXTON!!!!!!!!!!!! and he remembered me from the radio show/podcast!!! He was great. His act was dead funny and unbelievably energetic. Plus, he was a very nice and friendly chap to this nervous, silly little man and was good enough to sign my DVD.
I'm still high from it all.

Soupy Norman
There is this show on RTE in Ireland called Soupy Norman. Its based on this brilliant sketch from Time Trumpet shown last year.
Problem is, I'm in the London and can't get RTE. And it seems that the Irish are very honest and don't post videos of tele shows. not youtube or bittorrent or anything. Now i realize that i have no right to see Soupy Norman, it's on Irish tv, but my mind don't work like that honey. Its why the net was invented for me, so i can see tv from around the world without a dish.

Geek Zombies
Thursday could end up being quite comic tinged. Ya see, that's the day i get my new geek books.
Today, i almost had a geek-gasam when i noticed a new Marvel Zombies comic. mainly because of the cover which folds out and that. These are comics that sell just on the covers alone, but the stories are very fun too. Anyone who is familiar with these characters, whether its comics, tele or film will love seeing the zombie-fied version of them.
I have Kevin Frostick to thank for getting me into the Marvel Zombie thing when he bought me a lovely hardback collection of the first mini-series. thanks kev. thev.
